If you love sausage as much as I do, but you’re doing the Lion’s Diet Modified to hurry up and heal your body, this beef sausage recipe is for you. It’s a game changer around here, and my family asks for it on repeat.
Why This Beef Sausage Recipe Works for Lion’s Diet Modified
Most store-bought sausage is loaded with seed oils, fillers, and seasonings you can’t pronounce, which makes it off-limits if you’re doing Lion’s Diet Modified to heal. This beef sausage recipe sticks to simple, tolerated seasonings and good fats, so you get all the flavor without derailing your healing. If you want the full rundown on the protocol itself, I’ve got a dedicated post and video on Lion’s Diet Modified too.
Ingredients for Beef Sausage Recipe
This makes about 16 patties, roughly one ounce each:
- 1 pound of 80/20 grass-fed beef
- 1 pastured egg
- 1 heaping tablespoon of bacon fat
- A small amount of extra bacon fat, plus ghee for cooking
- 3 teaspoons ground organic sage
- 3 teaspoons organic onion powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons organic garlic powder
- Two generous pinches of Redmond Real Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
- 1 1/2 teaspoons thyme
A quick note on seasonings: only use the ones you personally tolerate. These are what worked for us, but Lion’s Diet Modified is still an elimination approach, so adjust to your own body.
How to Make Beef Sausage Recipe
- Combine the beef, egg, bacon fat, and all the seasonings in a bowl and mix well with your hands until everything is evenly distributed.
- Form into patties, about an ounce each, for 16 patties total.
- Cook in a skillet with a little bacon fat and ghee until browned through.
Storage Tips
The raw sausage mixture keeps in the fridge for five days. If you cook the patties ahead, they’ll also keep five days in the fridge, or you can freeze them and they’re good indefinitely — perfect for meal prepping a big batch.
